Every time someone looks at your web site, it has to send the information to the visitors computer. The amount of information sent is measured and is referred to as 'bandwidth'.
Many hosting companies set a limit on the amount of bandwidth and charge you for excess usage. This cost can be high and penalises those companies that have successful web sites.
NOTE: Your broadband internet access provider may set limits on your usage, but this is does not affect visitors to your site.
Why Doesn't CMLfirst set a limit?
Provided clients do not abuse the service, CMLfirst has agreed unlimited bandwidth with its main server support people. We do not believe in penalising companies because of their success.
What is not allowed?
1. CMLfirst does not permit, without prior approval, video streaming, music downloads or other business activities that are only possible with a large amount of bandwidth.
2. CMLfirst will look at clients web sites if it detects an unusually high level of bandwidth. This may be because the web pages have not been properly designed and include very large, high resolution images.
REMEMBER: All images on web sites are less than 100 DPI (i.e. low resolution). There is no improvement by utilising high-resolution images. Such images slow the download of pages to your visitors which is an inconvenience.
By helping clients to improve their web sites, CMLfirst is helping those companies get better value from it.
3. CMLfirst is designed around companies and individuals wanting to benefit from the Internet. However, we maintain a very ethical stand on web site content which are detailed in our terms and conditions which every client agrees to.
CMLfirst does not allow sites of a sexual nature, pornographic, gambling, dating, for dissemination of religious or political ideologies or for any activity that is illegal within the UK and other countries.
Use of bandwidth for these purposes will be considered a breach of our terms and conditions and will result in the site being immediately closed down.
NOTE: All agreements with CMLfirst are conditional on unconditional acceptance of our terms and conditions. (This does not affect your rights under UK law.)
